Time to prove yourself as the angler you know you are. Beginning in 2010, The Island Bass Tour Mystery Lake Classic Series aims to find the best Bass Angler there is here in BC. Vancouver Island is the perfect place to test the skills of those that think they are the tops. Why you ask? To be the best, you need to be able to catch bass no matter the time of year, or the weather Mother Nature throws at you. Winter spring summer and fall, we can pursue our chosen quarry all year on lakes that hold huge small mouth bass just waiting to test your skills and gear. Do you have what it takes to become BC’s True Top Bass Angler? Then hone your skills bring your best…and let the best angler prevail!

In past surveys done by BC Fisheries, they found that the highest number of freshwater anglers on Vancouver Island, were the bass anglers, and historically this demographic has been ignored as far as organized bass tours are concerned.

We aim to change that.  Starting in 2010, there will be a new angling event operator in British Columbia, based on Vancouver Island and working specifically with the Island’s ever-growing bass angler population.  We have created two paths for Vancouver Island bass anglers to take via our The Tactics Series and our Mystery Lake Classic Tour, in order to appeal to both novice and experienced bass anglers.

The Mystery Lake Classic Tour will be targeted at Vancouver Island’s experienced bass anglers.  As you may or may not be aware, the original Bassmaster Classic held in 1971 was an event that anglers qualified for via the season’s numerous tournaments.  Back then, the Classic was held on a mystery lake that remained a mystery until the plane loaded with qualifying anglers was on route to their destination.

Though it is no longer logistically practical for Bassmasters to continue that format, it suits our small Island tour perfectly.  The top six teams of anglers from each of the three qualifying events will be eligible to compete at no charge in our season ending Mystery Lake Classic.

The Tactics Series will be a number of events held throughout the course of the year where specific techniques will be focused on to coincide with the seasonal pattern of the bass on Vancouver Island.  This series would mainly target beginner bass anglers, or those who have an interest in a specific technique that they are having problems incorporating into their repertoire.  The top four anglers in this series will also be invited to participate in the Mystery Lake Classic final.
